Why Wall Art Is Important: 5 Benefits Of Wall Art

Benefits Of Having Wall Art In Your Space

Watching a room come together and decorating it the way you want is special. From having those first ideas to seeing the final results is such a wonderful feeling. There are so many benefits of wall art – your home will just feel complete.

It could be that you feel like something is missing once you have your walls painted, floors done and furniture in place.

Something that is often neglected, is the finishing touch that wall art can provide to your space.

For some reason the impact it can have is often underrated, and treated like an afterthought.

This post aims to explain how the art you have on your walls can transform your space and really bring it to life.

Decorating your home with wall art is important for several reasons. Wall art can brighten up a room, add colour and personality, and make a space feel more welcoming. It can also be a source of inspiration, and a reminder of what you love.

By hanging wall art, you can transform a room from feeling bland and boring to lively and vibrant. Whether you choose to hang abstract pieces or more traditional paintings, adding artwork to your home is a great way to make it feel like your own.

Choosing the right piece(s) of wall art is an important decision, but it doesn’t have to be difficult. With a little bit of planning, you can find the perfect piece of art for your home.

Show Off Your Personality and Style

You may not have thought about it, but how you furnish and decorate your home is a reflection of your personality (and sometimes how you live your life).

If your home is disorganised, with stuff everywhere, it can convey the message that your life could also be disorganised and chaotic.

On the other hand, if your home is organised, and decorated well it will have a totally different feeling.

Our decor allows us to express our own unique personality. It really is your chance to show your personality and style. Each one of us will select our own pieces and place them that is naturally pleasing to us.

Even if it’s not a conscious thought, we will be guided by our personality when selecting wall art. These choices show us (and everyone who sees them), who we are and what we appreciate.

Also, if you choose pieces that connect to you, it will invoke a strong emotional response whenever you see it. They will ground you, make you feel at home and enhance your mood.

Which is more you?

Consider the following if you’re looking for a bit more help with this –

For a calm and serene feeling, nature scenes or muted colours might be best. If you want to feel energised and motivated, bright colours and stunning sunrises or sunsets could be the way to go. And if you want to promote creativity, consider hanging up some mix-and-match options to give you some variety to get you thinking.

Bright versus more muted – which do you prefer?

It can provide accents to your interior design

Quite often when we choose our colour scheme we go for neutral muted colours. This is practical and stands the test of time.

It’s the extras that you add that really enhance your space, and this is where your art choices come in.

Your whole environment will still be neutral and harmonious, but you can add colour and your personality to enhance the area as a whole.

Whatever colour choices you have, your wall art is an important part in the process and one that really shouldn’t be overlooked.

Of course budget is always a consideration, and that’s exactly where this thinking fits in. If your furniture and walls etc. are neutral, they can stay the same. Those are your biggest costs, then you can enhance your space with prints, rugs, cushions and so on that don’t need to break the bank.

This way you can also change them up every now and then if you’re like me and like to refresh.

Size makes a big difference

It provides a focal point

Now it’s time to think about where you would like to add the wow factor.

The focal point is anything that, intentionally or by chance, captures the majority of the attention.

As such, when you add wall art to the interior of your home, you make it an intentional feature that catches the eye of anyone who enters.

You can create a wall art wow factor in any room whether you choose one large piece of art or select smaller pieces in a collage.

For example, a large piece that takes up a lot of wall space will draw the viewer’s eye to that area and set the tone for the whole space.

The same goes for displaying multiple smaller pieces of wall art and displaying them in a gallery or collage style. This will have the same effect as one large piece and draw the eye to that area.

Don’t worry if you don’t feel you have a real skill in this area. Go with what you’re drawn to as there really is no right or wrong way – it’s your space!

It Creates Your Unique Environment

That leads me to the next point.

What you choose will create your own unique environment. They really will help trigger happy memories, improve your mood and even make you feel calmer in no time.

While choosing the right pieces is important, trust your instincts.

Think about what atmosphere you are trying to create. Really it should feel welcoming and positive for you. This will impact on the environment as a whole, and people visiting will also feel this.

Once your wall art is up and your area is finished you will have a space that is relaxing and lifts your mood whenever you enter.

Wall art really does have an impact on your mood by providing a soothing and happy environment.

It completes the area

This post started with how you may have felt something was missing when you finished furnishing your space.

I truly believe that wall art helps to provide the finishing touch.

Having the right wall art really does help make you feel that your home is complete.
As a photographer, and seller of prints, it would be remiss of me not to suggest my images for your walls. Check out my collections of limited edition photos. You can have them printed so you can frame them yourself, or have them done in acrylic all ready to hang.

To sound really cheesy (but it’s still my honest thought), adding wall art to your interior really can transform your house to a home.

It is all about what makes you happy and what brings positivity into your space.

Conclusion

We really are visual beings and process our surroundings within milliseconds of entering an area.

Just think about visiting a shopping centre just before Christmas and how bright and busy that is.

How does that make you feel?

I for one just want to escape.

I really hope this post has helped you think about using wall art to create a space that you want to stay and spend time in – not escape from.

So if you’re looking for an easy way to add some style to your home, don’t underestimate the power of wall art!
